Ending Homelessness on Hawai’i Island – Because Everyone Deserves a Home.
The Hawaii Island HUD Continuum of Care
The HUD Continuum of Care (CoC) Program is designed to promote community wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness; provide funding for efforts by nonprofit providers plus state and local governments to quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused to homeless individuals, families, and communities by homelessness; promote access to and effect utilization of mainstream programs by homeless individuals and families; and optimize self-sufficiency among individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
In Hawaii County, our CoC is called Community Alliance Partners (CAP). Membership in CAP is required for all organizations who are granted Department of Housing funds to address homelessness. To end homelessness on Big Island, we need support from all community sectors including teachers, physicians, business leaders, philanthropists, mental health experts, faith group leaders, employment experts, addiction specialists, realtors and landlords. Join us to lend your ideas, your voice and efforts to the cause of ending homelessness on Hawaii Island.
